16. Setting a goal specific to yourself
"To each is a goal to which God turns him; then strive together (as in a race) towards all that is good. Wheresoever you are, God will bring you together, for God has power over all things." [2/al-Baqara/148]
Note: Each human being is unique and it is part of the divine plan. To recognize and appreciate this uniqueness is critical to understanding our individual role in this life and the contribution we can make to touch so many other lives. Different people have different talents and potentials. Collectively, human society should try to foster an environment where such uniqueness evolves and realizes to its full potential. Individually, we should try to assess, identify and discover our own strengths and work toward its full realization. Each of us touches so many other lives through our unique existence. At the same time, we must understand that our uniqueness to be realized is in the collective context, beyond our own self. Thus, as a son or daughter, brother or sister, mother or father - or any relationship one can think of - we are part of a larger whole.
