Based on my personal study of major hadith literature, in
mid-80s I
started compiling a reference index for my personal use. These are hadith
references under various topics collected for their special contents
for various purposes. This index is by no means complete. Indeed, I have not
touched or modified it in several years. But I still use it frequently as I need
it. Index like this is particularly important to me because I generally do
not refer to or quote a hadith without adequate and full reference.
To better understand my
understanding of how hadith should be approached is reflected in a paper:
Islamic Law and the
Use and Abuse of Hadith.
Your help in further modifying and expanding this index is deeply
appreciated.
